In an historic partnership, the first of its kind, Global Social Housing is delighted to announce the Peace Corp Country Director Steven Dorsey’s commitment to working together.
Global Social Housing is driving a $2 million project to provide homes for 100 families. Working in countries in which the Peace Corps is already established significantly increases the impact of donations made, as infrastructure and social analysis are already in place to aid efficiency. The work of the Peace Corps also helps establish relationships and data to ensure that donations are being spent where they are most needed, and where they can achieve the goals of Global Social Housing most effectively.
Mr Dorsey says this project provides the perfect opportunity for his organisation to be involved at the inception of these new communities. The Peace Corps will be using its fifty years of experience at grass roots level to deliver training, support, education and community assessment for the new home owners.
Global Social Housing’s creator, Lee Mirman, said: “We are absolutely delighted the Peace Corps is on board. Now, not only will we be able to provide much needed homes and a solid, socially responsible infrastructure but also the building blocks of thriving community.”
The Global Social Housing project seeks to address the chronic need for housing in developing countries. The Global Social Housing project is also supported by the Costa Rican government’s cast iron guarantee on money donated to social housing projects.
